Relying on manual searches is time-consuming and often yields unreliable or incomplete information regarding a watch's brand, model, and current market price. Furthermore, collectors lack a streamlined digital system to easily catalog, organize, and track the total estimated financial value of their growing physical collections, preventing them from fully appreciating and managing their digital watch inventory.

Watch IQ resolves this by leveraging an AI-driven recognition engine that allows users to simply scan any watch using their phone's camera for instant, detailed identification and an estimated market valuation. The solution's UI/UX is built around providing immediate utility and long-term organization. It features a custom "Watch Collection" management tool where users can save their recognized finds and a dynamic "Collection Stats" dashboard that automatically calculates and displays the total aggregated value of their saved digital collection, transforming a complex hobby into an organized, trackable, and motivating experience.
Horology enthusiasts waste significant time scouring forums and databases to determine a watch's brand, model, and value, often resulting in guesswork or incomplete data. Furthermore, collectors lacked a central, digital home to organize their diverse physical collections and, most importantly, visualize the total estimated financial value of their inventory. The challenge was digitizing this analog, expertise-driven process.
The Concept
The core concept for Watch IQ was to replace tedious manual lookup with instant, AI-driven recognition. The application needed to become an indispensable, portable tool for every collector, whether they were browsing at an antique shop or documenting their existing portfolio. This required blending a highly technical AI scanning feature with a robust, collector-focused management system that offered both utility (accurate data) and motivation (collection value tracking).
The Design Solution
As the UI/UX Designer, I focused on creating a seamless, high-value experience. Using the sophisticated Satoshi typeface and a deep, confident navy palette, the design communicates precision and trust. Key design elements include:
The Scan Experience: The primary flow prioritizes the camera. The UI minimizes distractions, allowing users to quickly capture a watch and receive a "Best Match" screen that instantly provides identification details (e.g., Breitling Superocean Heritage II 42) and an estimated value, along with an accuracy rating for transparency.
Collection Architecture: I designed the "Watch Collection" feature as a streamlined inventory system. This is where users save, categorize, and share their finds.
The Stats Dashboard: A critical motivator is the "Collection Stats" feature, prominently displaying metrics like the number of watches and, crucially, the $500k Total Value to showcase the aggregated worth of the user's collection, transforming data into engaging insight.
The Results
The design successfully transformed a complex technical goal (AI recognition) into a simple, elegant user utility. Watch IQ delivers instant gratification through scanning and long-term value through collection management. The resulting high-fidelity prototype provides horology enthusiasts with an organized, trackable, and sophisticated digital companion, positioning it as a powerful tool in the specialized market of luxury goods collection.
