The project started with a client who identified a systemic inefficiency in the local logistics and delivery ecosystem in Jamaica. Shippers felt trapped by fixed, opaque pricing models, and professional drivers lacked a centralized platform to actively compete for jobs. The core problem was a lack of transparency and flexibility, leaving shippers uncertain about value and limiting income potential for drivers. My goal was to introduce a transformative, competitive layer to this traditional market.

The Concept

The core concept was to create ShipIt, a logistics application that leverages an Upwork-style bidding system. This decentralized approach would put pricing control back into the hands of the market. The application needed to serve two distinct, yet interconnected, user types: the Shipper (the user posting a job) and the Driver (the user bidding on and executing the delivery). The design had to facilitate a seamless, trustworthy interaction where shippers could easily post details and drivers could submit competitive offers.

The Design Solution

As the UI/UX Designer, the solution focused on creating two highly specialized, intuitive journeys within a single app environment. I chose the Satoshi typeface and a dynamic palette of deep blue and white to convey trust, speed, and professionalism. Key design elements included:

Job Posting Simplicity: The shipper flow was refined to allow quick job creation, minimizing friction when inputting pickup, drop-off, and package details.

The Bidding Dashboard: The driver interface was designed with a clear, real-time dashboard showing available bids, allowing drivers to quickly filter and submit their most competitive offer.

Trust and Tracking: The user interface features clear, linear status updates (like "In Route," "Picked Up," "Dropped Off") and a prominent success screen with ratings, ensuring the shipper feels confident and informed at every stage until verified delivery.
